M. Emmet Walsh dead: Hollywood actor dies aged 88 after career starring alongside Julia Roberts & Harrison Ford

HOLLYWOOD actor M. Emmet Walsh has died aged 88 after a stellar career starring alongside Julia Roberts and Harrison Ford.
Walsh passed away on Tuesday due to a cardiac arrest, according to reports.




Walsh portrayed Harrison Ford's boss in Ridley Scott's Blade Runner and starred next to Julia Roberts in My Best Friend's Wedding.
His longtime manager Sandy Joseph revealed the beloved actor died on Tuesday at Kerbs Memorial Hospital in St. Albans Vermont.
During his six-decade career, he starred in other classics such as Midnight Cowboy, Silkwood, Romeo + Juliet, and Christmas With The Kranks.
Walsh starred in 119 films and 250 TV shows, according to his manager, and became a character actor, starring as an honest-broker who the audience could trust.
HALL OF FAME
Walsh has also been inducted into the Character Actor Hall of Fame.
He starred across from some of the Hollywood's biggest names in the 20th Century, including Paul Newman, Steve Martin, Barbara Streisand, and Dustin Hoffman.
He was also known for his roles in the Coen Brother's gritty 1984 thriller Blood Simple which he won a best male lead Spirit Award for.
More recently, he portrayed the elderly security guard Mr Proofroc in the 2019 Daniel Craig film Knives Out.
The deceased actor is also set to star in the yet to be released Western film Outlaw Posse – which also stars Whoopi Goldberg.
He came to prominence in the 1978 film Straight Time where he played a parole officer.
In television, Walsh starred in episodes of The Twilight Zone, The X-Files, The Wild Thornberrys, and Frasier.
He also made occasional guest appearances on the sitcom Home Improvement as Tim Taylor's father-in-law.
Walsh was born on March 22, 1935 in Ogdensburg, New York, and featured in over 200 films and television shows.
He was raised in rural Swanton, Vermont where he started his passion for acting.
Welsh's illustrious career kicked off with his onscreen debut in Alice's Restaurant in 1969.
