WHEN Sam Thompson splashed out on a Cartier ring for a special someone, you might have thought it was for his long-term girlfriend, Zara McDermott.

But you'd be wrong, despite the couple being together for five years and stronger than ever following his stint down under for I'm A Celebrity.

Sam, 31, and Zara, 27, got together in 2019 after she slid into his DMs, and despite a brief split a year later, are now stronger by a mile.

The couple are often compared to Hollywood's Justin and Hailey Bieber except they're not married, and it's not on the cards for the foreseeable.

It turns out that the Cartier ring Sam purchased after winning I'm A Celebrity was for another special person in his life.

Enter, his best mate: Pete Wicks

He's just done so much for me, Sam exclusively tells Fabulous.

He came all the way to Australia and I really wanted to give him a gift that will show my eternal love.

Coming out for two weeks, being there for me, always being on the phone to my mum and Zara; he was holding the fort for the whole family and support network.

You've got to be really good friends to do that for somebody.

Cartier rings start at 760 for the 1985 Wedding Band, but the iconic Love Wedding Band will set you back 1,200.

He adds that he knows he's going to spend the rest of his life with Zara but doesn't see any sort of rush to get down on one knee.

We speak about marriage a lot, but there's no pressure to put a ring on it, he says.

Sam was declared the new "King of the Jungle" at the end of 2023, pipping boxing champ Tony Bellew and politician Nigel Farage to the crown.

The Made In Chelsea alum is predicted to bankroll an eye-watering 2 million following his victory.

Sam fell into the TV industry after being approached at 19 to join MIC, alongside his sister and OG star of the series Louise, 33.

He jokes that he only joined for the sole reason of getting into night clubs for free and going on dates.

Sam initially planned to have fun for a couple of years, before quitting to get a proper job, until realising there was a lucrative career to be made from being in the public eye.

Last year, he fronted the acclaimed Sam Thompson: Is This ADHD? documentary, which followed his journey before and after being diagnosed with autism and ADHD.

I want to do a lot more stuff on ADHD and neurodiversity in general, because I can't believe how many people got in touch, he says.

I'm proud of myself and what I've achieved. ADHD is a superpower.

His diagnosis has proved a positive thing in many ways, specifically in his relationship with ex-Love Islander, Zara.

We're stronger now by a mile, he says. I can sometimes be a little bit overbearing and it's not fair to expect people to always be running at your capacity the whole time.

Sometimes I could have been a little bit selfish.

Now I know I need to make time for 'Zara time'.
