Britney Spears sparks concern with claim she now struggles to understand English after changing her name to Xila
Britney Spears has sparked a wave of concern after claiming she now struggles to understand English.
The pop icon, 42, was released from a conservatorship in 2021, giving her back the ability to control her finances and personal life.
It's been a rollercoaster time for Britney since, from a marriage and divorce to having a hit song with Sir Elton John, and raising eyebrows with nude photos on Instagram.
Now fans have voiced concern for the Toxic singer after a lengthy new Instagram post where she revealed she is now going by the name 'Xila' — and since doing so has been struggling to understand English.
In the rambling post, she details a trip to the beach and claims she was not allowed to drive a boat even though 'they used to let me drive it before'.
She then added: 'Since I changed my name to Xila I actually am having a hard time understanding English.'
She moved on quickly to speak about a dress she owns and how she likes to have dinner by herself at night, before praising a certain hairspray she uses.
Britney's new admission has caused concern among fans on Instagram and X, with user Delta Queen writing 'this poor young girl.'
'I hope that one day soon, she will get the help she needs (and NOT through a conservatorship).'
Larry Schweikard agreed 'while I strongly disagree with the "conservatorship," it is also abundantly clear that this poor girl has serious problems. She needs someone to help her—NOT control her.'
'She needs help,' Edward Logsdon wrote, with SportsQ agreeing 'someone please help her' and Kerkovia saying she feels 'truly so sad for her.'
Britney has previously worried fans by repeatedly dancing with knives in videos posted to Instagram shortly after her split from Sam Asghari.
While she later said the knives were props and not real, it didn't stop concerned fans reaching out to authorities, who performed a welfare check on the singer.
They determined she was not in any danger, with Britney then hitting out on social media calling it 'a joke'.
'The officers came to my home and said they would not leave until they spoke to me as people do 4 minute performances with them. I am getting an apology.
'I've been bullied in my home for so long nowITS ENOUGH! Don't talk about it, come on, let's DO !!!
'As my mom does the silent treatment when paps ask questions about her own daughter as if I'm in the wrongnope it's an old game. People need to be responsible for their actions! It's about power for cops.'
Britney claimed she was inspired by Shakira and wanted to push her performances to the next level.
