MURDER cops have launched a probe after a gangland figure was blasted to death just minutes before the bells on New Year's Eve.
Marc Webley, 38, was shot after he left a Hogmanay party last night at his local pub in Granton, Edinburgh.

The underworld figure – who recently dated Lotto winner Jane Park – had previously spent time in jail for shooting a rival.
Park has since posted to her Instagram story, saying she has been left "absolutely devastated" by the killing.
Marc was pronounced dead at the scene after emergency services arrived at 11.50pm.
A 39-year-old man was also shot and was rushed to hospital with serious injuries.
Medics have said he is in a serious but stable condition.
Officers have now confirmed that they have launched a murder investigation into the death.
And the area has been locked down as they conduct their enquiries to establish the full circumstances.
Detective Superintendent Graham Grant said: "This is believed to have been a targeted incident and our thoughts and condolences are with the family and friends of both men involved.
"Enquiries are at a very early stage to establish the full circumstances surrounding what happened, and while officers have already gathered CCTV and spoken to various people who were in the area at the time, I'd urge anyone with information who hasn't yet spoken to us to come forward.
"In particular if anyone has private CCTV, doorbell footage or dashcam of the Granton Crescent/Road area around the time of the incident, please bring it to our attention.
"This incident will undoubtedly have caused concern in the local community and officers will be carrying out extra patrols of the area and I'd like to reassure the public that everything possible is being done to trace whoever is responsible."
"Anyone with information is urged to call 101 quoting reference 3819 of 31 December. Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111."
A source said: "Webley was involved in a dispute with a well-known figure from the south of Edinburgh.
"It had been bubbling away for a while with threats from both sides. Thing is the other guy was in Spain when this happened.
"Webley left the Anchor Inn just before the bells and was shot outside. It seems like it was by someone waiting who knew he'd be there.
"Webley is a regular in there so it was fair to assume he'd be there on Hogmanay.
"He was hit in the neck and head area and died at the scene.
"Another guy was also shot and he's in hospital fighting for his life."
Jane reshared an image of her and Webley as she paid tribute to him, which was posted to her account just weeks ago.
She said: "I can't believe I'm writing this. We spoke yesterday.
"If I could cuddle you again and tell you everything is going to be ok, I would give anything to do it Marc.

We told in November how Jane posted a picture of them hugging in a bar.
The next day, they enjoyed dinner and drinks at the capital's Urban Bar and Grill in the Village Hotel.
Later, Jane uploaded more images of her embracing the con to a soundtrack of Can You Feel The Love Tonight? — the song recorded by Elton John for the 1994 Disney classic The Lion King.
Jane, who won £1million in 2013, then shared an influencer's video about not caring what others think.
But the couple split after just a few weeks together.
