SCOTS are bracing for further weather misery in the New Year – just days after Storm Gerrit battered the country.
A deep area of low pressure will move into Ireland and the west of Scotland on Saturday, potentially bringing snow to lower levels.

The final Celtic V Rangers clash of the season is due to kick off at lunch time, with thousands travelling for the big match at Celtic Park.
As the low pressure system moves eastwards, the boundary between its area and the relatively colder conditions further north and east will lead to a band of passing snow across some of the high ground of Scotland.
The Met Office say it is possible this snow could fall to lower levels for a brief period of time across the country.
Steven Ramsdale is a Met Office Chief Forecaster. He said: "This system is likely to bring a range of weather including hill snow. Heavy rain will spread across all but the far north on Saturday affecting similar areas previously affected by Storm Gerrit.
"However, this rainfall will be a step down from that seen during Storm Gerrit."
Tomorrow will see temperatures plummet to -7C in the north where snow is lying and the Northern Isles could see winds gusting to severe gale force overnight.
Hogmanay will see slow-moving showers delivering miserable conditions for revellers but New Year's Day carries the prospect of some sunshine.
Looking further ahead into 2024, there is low forecast confidence. Nick Silkstone is a Met Office Deputy Chief Forecaster.
He said: "Through to mid-January, there is a signal for a shift in the pattern compared to the winter so far, with more settled and colder-than-average conditions becoming increasingly likely."
It comes as Storm Gerrit wreaked havoc on the travel network and left thousands of homes without power.
