Tamicha Gates has been left feeling helpless after the town of Jennings ignored her pleas for help together with her driveway concern that leaves her feeling like a prisoner[/caption]Problems began three years in the past when a tree fell at her residence in Jennings, Missouri, during a storm in 2021.
It is thought that this damaged a water line as since then water has continued to emerge from beneath the tree.
This then flows to the driveway and freezes up in the winter.
As Fox News affiliate KTVI visited her residence, in a bid to help Gates, she demonstrated how she has to get to and from her home by scooting on the ice whereas sitting on a scarf.
"It's like jail in my own residence as a result of I can't get out the driveway," she stated.
"I'm saying 'I wanna cry' but no, I can't hold being depressed I've gotta do something about it," she tearfully informed the information outlet.
"I can't hold dealing with this. I can't. I don't know what to do subsequent if any person doesn't get it completed however I can't hold coping with it."
Gates believes that the tree belongs to the Metropolis, this has been denied by the mayor, and regardless of quite a few visits to Metropolis Corridor for help, there was no response.
"I don't know what else to do," she informed the outlet including that she reached out to see if it might make the town concentrate.
On the reporter's first visit, a recent layer of snow meant that the driveway could possibly be walked on relatively safely however after an ice storm hit, Gates was again to scooting over the ice on her bottom.
Mayor Gary Johnson visited Gates' residence after being contacted by the KTVI reporter.
He confirmed that he would look into the difficulty after falling over on the driveway throughout his visit.
"(This is) the primary time I've even obtained anyone to return out (to my house)," Gates stated.
"They've been telling me for 3 years 'any person popping out,' (but) no one got here out…There were no notes that they've had this drawback."
Whereas Johnson doesn't consider the tree belongs to the town, he stated that the town continues to be determining who it belongs to and tips on how to help Gates.
Johnson who was elected mayor in April 2023 informed the information reporter by way of text message: "I significantly take pleasure in helping our residents. I had no prior information of the state of affairs.
"She hadn't been to city corridor since June. If she had come up once extra we might've provided her the residential grants.
"I'll further examine where the water is sourcing from.
"Her driveway is an ice rink. I fell on the market yesterday."
"I'm very hopeful," Gates advised the news outlet as she praised it for getting her voice heard.
The U.S. Sun has contacted Mayor Johnson for an update.
