A BABY boy has become Scotland's first newborn of the new year after being born just minutes after the bells.

While most Scots were still raising a glass and singing Auld Lang Syne, proud parents Jamie and Andrew Buchanan were celebrating the best thing the new year could bring.
Jamie gave birth to baby Henry at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy, Fife.
The tot has now claimed the title of Scotland's first 2024 baby.
Coming in a close second were two babies born at the SAME TIME in different hospitals on either end of the country.
Bonnie May Preslie and Lewis Andrew MacGregor both came into the world at 12.06am.
Mum Chelsea Preslie, 26, gave birth to baby Bonnie May, who weighed 7lb 6oz, at Aberdeen Maternity Hospital.
But 145 miles away in Glasgow's Princess Royal Maternity Hospital, Kirsty Crowe, 32, delivered baby Lewis – weighing 8lb 1oz.
NHS Ayrshire welcomed their first baby at 2.19am.
Joy-filled parents Ashley McBain and George Spence, from Kilmarnock, welcomed newborn boy Charlie into their lives.
The tot will be a baby brother to big sister Lucy.
And a new mum and dad in Edinburgh revealed the reason for their baby boy's name after he was born in the city's Royal Infirmary.
Mum Kayleigh Young, 26, gave birth to Forest, weighing 4lb 14oz, at 4.32 this morning.
Proud dad Craig, also 26, said: "It is a lovely start to the New Year and we are both delighted. Kayleigh is obviously a bit tired, but she and Forest are doing really well.
"We like being outdoors and we wanted to give Forest a name that meant something to us."
An NHS spokesperson said: "Huge congratulations to all the families."
