LEGENDARY BBC newsreader Cecil Taylor has died aged 96, it has been introduced.
The TV reporter died "peacefully" at his house near Bangor last week following an illustrious career in journalism spanning more than 4 many years.
A funeral service will happen at the Hamilton Street Presbyterian Church in Belfast later right now.
Cecil started his career on the Irish Occasions, earlier than becoming a member of the BBC in 1955.
He went on to grow to be news editor and head of programmes, earning a fame as a pioneer of broadcast information.
The journalist initially wrote scripts, but was soon showing on digital camera himself and developed the 10-minute teatime bulletin and Scene at Six – now often known as BBC Newsline.
His time at the BBC included coverage of The Troubles and the IRA in the 1950s.
Cecil later turned head of programmes with the temporary of overseeing all TV and radio current affairs exhibits.
He would go on to fee tv dramas that helped provide a platform for the likes of Kenneth Branagh and Graham Reid.
Cecil is survived by spouse Doreen, daughter Olwyn and grandson Matty.
