Kate McKinnon is opening up about her life on the "homestead," and the interesting "goal" that comes with it.

On Tuesday, Oct. 28, the Saturday Night Live alum, 41, joined host Amy Poehler for an episode of the Good Hang podcast. During the conversation, the Ghostbusters actress spoke about her "desire to go to the woods" following 20 years spent living in New York City.

"I belong on the homestead," McKinnon noted in the episode.

The comedians went on to discuss McKinnon's affinity for nature ever since she was a little kid, including solo bike rides through the neighborhood.

"I loved bugs and science and making nature crafts. I remember making little bits of mud and putting them places" she shared with a laugh.

"Every time we went to a seafood restaurant, I would say, 'Mom, can I take the empty clam muscle and lobster shells home with me and put them in the bath tub?' And after rinsing them of marinara sauce, she would let me put them in the bathtub and I would get in with them and just enjoy that," the star continued.

Poehler, 54, then asked about McKinnon's motivations for living on the homestead.

"I think the reason I've done it is that I believe very much that we are doomed," she shared. "My goal is surviving the apocalypse [for] four days."She added: "If I can make it to four, oh mama, I will have achieved something."

While McKinnon did not share many details about the location of her homestead, she did list off a few activities she does on the property, including growing her own food and woodworking.

"I think it's in my genes because my grandfather was a woodworker, my father was an architect," she explains. "I love the practicality of, you can manipulate this material and then you can spend time in it. How crazy is that?"

"You can sit on it," she added. "I love to sit on things I do … To say I will sleep on what I did today."

McKinnon told Poehler she's even completed her own table. Although The Roses star is proud of her work; she knows it isn't the best.

"What you do, just kind of put it up inside the home anyways and I have absolutely decreased the property value of the house with my shoddy work," she said.
