Raised in Gary, Ind., byJoeandKatherine Jackson, the five-man band consisting of Michael,Jermaine,Tito, Jackie and Marlon Jackson made their television debut onDick Clark’sAmerican Bandstandin 1970.

The band was signed with Motown Records until 1976, when they pivoted to Epic Records, and the youngest Jackson brother, Randy, replaced Jermaine. They also changed their name at the time to The Jacksons.

Though the Jackson 5 was never recognized with a Grammy, they achieved many milestones together, garnering three nominations from the Recording Academy and selling more than 150 million records.

The band also earned a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1997.

After more than 60 years as a group, here's what happened to the members of the Jackson 5.

Sigmund Esco “Jackie” Jackson

Jackie, born Sigmund Esco Jackson, on May 4, 1951, was a founding member of the Jackson 5. As the oldest Jackson brother, the musician naturally took on a leadership role.

“At that time, I was the oldest and sometimes my father couldn’t be there, so I kept everybody in line,” he said on an April 2025 episode of theBlack in the Green Roompodcast. “It wasn’t that hard because it was about the music and being onstage and entertaining, and that’s what we wanted to do.”

Jackie tried his hand at a solo career while still performing with the group, releasingJackie Jacksonin 1973 andBe the Onein 1989, breaking the Top 40 charts with his single “Stay.”

When Michael left the band in 1984, Jackie continued with The Jacksons, splitting leads on the group’s last album with Jermaine.

In addition to performing with his brothers, Jackie explored the business side of music, launching several music labels, including Critically Amused in 2018. He also starred in and executive-produced the 2009 reality seriesThe Jacksons: A Family Dynasty.

Jackie is afather of four. He welcomed his son Sigmund Esco Jr. and daughter Brandi with his late wife, Enid Arden Spann. Spann died from a brain aneurysm in 1997, and Jackie remarried to Emily Jackson in 2012. The two welcomed twins River and Jaylen in 2013.

Tito was born to the Jackson family on Oct. 15, 1953.

He was one of the group’s most consistent members, remaining with The Jacksons as he began a family with his late ex-wife Delores "Dee Dee" Martes. The couple hadthree children— Taj, Taryll and TJ — together before they divorced, and she wastragically killedin 1994.

When the couple’s sons formed their own band, 3T, Tito became their manager. “A Tito Jackson career on top of that just wouldn't allow me the time. So I chose to be a father and do all the things fathers do,” he told VladTV, perNPR.

In 2016, at the age of 63, Tito released his first solo album,Tito Time, followed by his 2021 album,Under Your Spell.

He continued to perform both as a solo act and with his brothers untilhis deathon Sept. 15, 2024, of an apparent heart attack. He was 70 years old.

Jermaine Jackson played an important role in the Jackson 5's success.

Born on Dec. 11, 1954, Jermaine was 10 when the band originated. “I was the lead singer first,” he recalled in aninterview.

With the addition of Michael to the group, Jermaine settled into his role as the second lead vocalist and bassist, with key solos in “I’ll Be There,” “I Want You Back” and more.

Despite his affinity for the group, Jermaine, who was married to Motown founderBerry Gordy’s daughter Hazel Gordyat the time, was the first to leave the Jackson 5 in 1975 when they switched labels.

Jermaine, who had embarked on his solo career three years prior in 1972 with the release of his self-titled album, continued recording with Motown until 1983, at which point he rejoined The Jacksons.

In 2023, Rita Barrett accused the singer ofsexual assault and batteryin a civil lawsuit stemming from an incident that allegedly took place in the spring of 1988. There have been no further updates on the case. A rep for Jermaine did not respond to PEOPLE's request for comment at the time.

Jermaine sharesseven childrenwith Hazel, Margaret Maldonado and ex-wife Alejandra Loaiza. One of his younger sons,Jafaar, is playing his uncle Michael in the April 2026 biopic.

Marlon David Jackson

Born as a twin with Brandon Jackson, who died shortly after birth on March 12, 1957, Marlon was the second-youngest Jackson in the group, getting his start at age 7 playing percussion for his older brothers.

Amid performing with his siblings, Marlon started a family of his own. He married Carol Ann Parker, with whom he went on to welcome three children, Valencia, Brittany and Marlon Jr.

After Michael left the group in 1984, Marlon soon followed suit, branching out on his own with 1987’sBaby Tonight.

In addition to his music career, Marlon has also dabbled in real estate.

In 2015, he created theStudy Peace Foundationin order to create "new programs designed to engage young people and adults to live in peaceful environments,” such as bringing playgrounds to underserved communities across the U.S.

“It all starts with what we make accessible to the children,” Marlon told theLos Angeles Sentinelin June 2015.

Michael, who was born on Aug. 29, 1958, was just 5 years old when he began performing with his family’s musical group in Gary in 1964.

Michael was instrumental in helping the band secure its first full-length record deal with Motown Records after being scouted by Bobby Taylor.

“I saw this little kid spinning and stuff and said, ‘Dang, send him upstairs. When he finishes, I want to talk to this kid,' ” Taylor said in a 2011 interview of Michael, perRolling Stone.

The king of pop’s voice was featured on the Jackson 5’s biggest hits and nearly all of its albums, except for2300 Jackson Street, which was released under the name The Jacksons several years after Michael’s departure from the group in 1984.

Though Michael kick-started his solo career as early as 1972 with his albumGot to Be There, he continued to perform with his brothers even after topping the charts with “Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough,” “Billie Jean” and 1982’sThriller— the record that became thebest-selling album of all time.

In 1993,Michael was accused of sexual molestationin a civil lawsuit that was settled out of court for more than $20 million.

He was arrested on separate charges of child molestation in 2003, stemming from the documentaryLiving With Michael Jackson, which called into question the nature of his relationship with the children in his life. Michael was acquitted of all charges in June 2005.

Michael was due to kick off a 50-date residency in London when he died of acardiac arreston June 25, 2009. The singer, who was married twice, toLisa Marie Presleyfrom1994 to 1996and to Debbie Rowe from 1996 to 1999, left behind three children:Paris Jackson,Prince JacksonandBigi Jackson.

Elizabeth Banks talks sexual health, reproductive care in revealing chat

NEW YORK, NY – I didn’t expect to start my morning playing a game of “Never Have I Ever” withElizabeth Banks. But there I was at a hotel restaurant in SoHo with a group of 15 women, all sharing intimate details of our sexual health.

USA TODAY

The "Hunger Games" and "Pitch Perfect" actress, 52, is a longtime women’s health advocate, and she's using her platform to champion reproductive freedom and health care access. She’s teamed up withCadence OTC, a brand providing over-the-counter access toemergency contraceptionandurinary-tract infection (UTI) relief. She is an investor in the company.

“I’ve traveled the world, and I felt like the system for birth control here just didn’t match up with women’s lived reality,” she tells me over coffee in the restaurant’s courtyard.

Banks just spent six months in Canada filming her new comedy-drama Peacock series, “The Miniature Wife,” which also taps into themes of women’s autonomy and “the minimization of wants and needs,” she explains.

When Banks tried to renew her birth control in Canada – which she uses to manage menopause symptoms – her doctor back home said she could only get it one month at a time, and needed to call her doctor every three months for prescription refills.

“It was just like, why are women so disempowered when it comes to our health and bodies, when men don’t have to deal with this stuff?” she says.

Elizabeth Banks talks with USA TODAY about "The Miniature Wife," menopause and her work as a women's health advocate in April 2026 over coffee in SoHo, New York.

The Supreme Court case Dobbs v. Jackson overturned Roe v. Wade and the constitutional right to abortion in 2022. At the same time, studieshave shown that states with the strictest abortion laws already have the weakest maternal health care support.

For example, 52.5% of the Arkansas and 49.2% of the Oklahoma populations lived inmaternity care deserts‒ areas where there are no obstetric providers or birth centers ‒ as of 2022. Both states have total abortion bans with limited exceptions. And as data has indicated some physiciansare deterred from practicing medicinein states with abortion bans, researcherswarn of implications for workforce sustainability and the availability of timely and accessible health care.

Banks says part of Cadence’s goal is to serve health care deserts by placing its contraceptive and UTI relief products in convenience stores, such as 7-Elevens, rather than pharmacies where these products already exist.

In the United States, there are150 counties where there is no pharmacy, and nearly 4.8 million people live in a county where there's approximately one pharmacy for every 10,000 residents.

Themorning-after pillworks by delaying ovulation after unprotected sex to prevent fertilization. Cadence is currently working with the FDA toward anover-the-counter birth control pill, so that people can access it without a prescription or insurance. People should consult with a physician about which contraceptive care is right for them.

Is it safe to stockpile Plan B?Here's what experts have to say.

‘The Miniature Wife’ represents ‘being made to feel small’

Banks stars as Lindy Littlejohn, a novelist with writer’s block married to Les (Matthew Macfadyen), a scientist on the verge of a breakthrough, in the new TV series “The Miniature Wife.” Already struggling with tension in their marriage, Les accidentally shrinks Lindy down to 6-inches tall.

Banks says this isn’t just a literal shrinkage, it’s a minimization of her character’s wants and needs.

“It’s this sense that women are often being made to feel small, like what we want and care about is less than,” she says.

It’s a pattern she sees “across the board of culture.” Movies are designated as “girl’s movies,” women’s sports are singled out, whereas men’s sports are just referred to as “sports.”

“It’s important to keep trying to change the language, access and conversation, because that all leads to just greater empowerment for women,” she adds.

‘I’m in menopause, for sure’

“I’m 52, so it would be really weird if I were still making babies,” Banks joked. But what comes along with menopause, she says, is an "incredible change in my physiology."

She feels “grateful” to be going through those changes during a time where conversations on women’s health have made it to the forefront, compared to the stigma experienced “just one generation” ago.

“We did not speak about these things,” she says. “Mothers passed on this information very quietly. We all read, ‘Are You There God? It’s Me Margaret,’ because we had to figure out how to have a period when we were 12 years old.”

The conversation is finally happening, she says, “because there are women with economic and therefore physical safety, able to speak out and say, ‘I need something.’ ”

Where's 'Effie' from the 'Hunger Games'?Elizabeth Banks weighs in.

Elizabeth Banks taught her ex-boyfriend about emergency contraception

While “Never Have I Ever” is usually played by mischievous tweens or drunken partiers, Banks used it to break through the taboo of sex, sex education and reproductive health. There were mimosas at brunch, but it wasn't yet 10 a.m. Soberly, us women at the table still divulged our personal experiences. For Banks, one of these tricky situations included receiving a call from her high school boyfriend in college, asking if she could talk to his new girlfriend about emergency contraception.

Despite uproar from the group, Banks shared that she helped the couple navigate the morning-after pill.

Elizabeth Banks leads a round of "Never Have I Ever" at brunch in Manhattan. One thing she's done? Explained how the morning-after pill works to her ex-boyfriend.

She spoke more about struggling to get her birth control pills for hormone replacement therapy while traveling out of the country.

“I'm still having issues when it comes to health care, even though I'm rich and famous and have access,” she quipped.

It helps create a sense of community, she says, when women learn these experiences and mishaps are more common than we think. But along with that camaraderie, Banks wants to see movement toward dismantling barriers to women’s health care.

“I just want to remind young women to take nothing for granted,” Banks says. “I hate using this word, but (what) the patriarchy steals from us is our time and energy, because it requires us to devote time and energy to our basic needs in a way that men do not have to.”

Ashley Park Says She ‘Will Never Forget’ Hitting Lily Collins with Croissants for“ Emily in Paris” Fight Scene (Exclusive)

Ashley Park opened up to PEOPLE about filming the croissant fight scene with Lily Collins in season 5 of Emily in Paris

  • At PaleyFest LA 2026, Park revealed the thing she “will never forget” about shooting their on-screen squabble

  • The actress also said that her and Collins’ Emily in Paris characters are “inspired” by their off-screen friendship

In the latest season ofEmily in Paris,Ashley Park’s character pelts her friend with baked goods. It’s not a moment that will leave Park's head any time soon.

Season 5, whicharrived on Netflix in December, sees Mindy Chen (Park) hurling croissants at on-screen bestie Emily Cooper, portrayed by her off-screen friendLily Collins. At PaleyFest LA 2026, Park opened up to PEOPLE about the fight — and the part of it that she “will never forget.”

Asked about the scuffle at the festival’sEmily in Parispanel on April 10, Park told PEOPLE, “Oh my gosh. Well, that was actually interesting, because we always say that so much of our characters are inspired very much by our own friendship. Like, we’ve never had a fight like that.”

Park, 34, continued, “We’ve never had a conversation like that. We communicate very well, and we’re like, ‘Oh, I guess this is the time where our characters can kind of learn this lesson.’ ”

As for the actual physics of the pastry fight, Park explained that “croissants are very light, so in order to aim it properly, you have to really chuck it hard. And so I was not aiming it correctly so well. I think the take that they use, I really chucked it at her.”

“I will never forget the imprint of croissant crumbs on her face,” she said of Collins, 37, before recalling how the actresses would check in with each other between takes: “And to do that to her friend — we had to stop. I was like, ‘Are you okay?’ ”

Park also told PEOPLE that before their on-screen squabble, she and Collins “were almost resistant to that storyline and tiff between them, but we really grew to be excited about it, because I think that having altercations or conflict with people that you care about, and being able to communicate through it, only makes you stronger.”

An additional layer to the story — well, besides the flaky ones in the croissants themselves — was the fact that theEmily in Parisstars’ relatives were in town as they filmed the fight, Park said.

“What was difficult — what was interesting — is that actually that scene with the croissant was the first time our parents ever visited Paris, and so they were on set with us that day,” she told PEOPLE at PaleyFest LA. “So that was already fun. But, I mean, we were laughing so hard.”

“What was difficult about that was not necessarily the acting part — it was actually a fun challenge for us — and it felt like we were stepping into our characters, rather than just bringing ourselves into it,” she continued. “But we were filming along this end, there [were] boats going by, shouting our names, with people on it — tourists.”

But the distraction seemingly proved to be a welcome addition to the intense scene, with Park recalling, “I think they actually used that take in it.”

Collins told PEOPLE at the season 5 premiere thatfilming a different scene with her on-screen BFF left her in tears. “One of my most fun moments was shooting the scene with Ashley where we have our face masks on and we couldn’t stop laughing — we were crying,” Collins shared, adding, “It’s always fun with Ashley.”

“Going to Venice was epic, you know, I’ve never been to Venice, so shooting with Ashley in the streets of Venice was really magical,” she added of her longtime costar.

Emily in Parishas beenrenewed for a sixth seasonfollowing the success of the latest season. Production for the show's latest installment begins in May, with the cast and crewheading to Greece and Monaco to film, Netflix previously confirmed to PEOPLE.

Russell Brand Confesses to “Exploitative” Consensual Sex With 16-Year-Old on Megyn Kelly Show Ahead of October Rape Trial

Brand admits sleeping with a 16-year-old at 30, calling it “exploitative” but consensual

Socialite Life

Highlights

  • He faces 7 charges: 3 rapes, 3 sexual assaults, 1 indecent assault; trial set for Oct. 12

  • Brand labeled himself an “exploiter of women” and estimated sex with “thousands” of women

Russell Brandhas made a startling on-camera admission — acknowledging that he had consensual sex with a 16-year-old girl when he was 30 years old, while simultaneously framing the encounter as morally indefensible due to the power imbalance celebrity affords.

The 50-year-old comedian, actor, and podcaster made the confession during a Wednesday appearance onThe Megyn Kelly Show, the YouTube program hosted by the prominent right-wing media personality — and he didn’t mince words.

“The plain fact of it is that in Europe and in the United Kingdom, where I’m from, the age of consent is 16, and I did sleep with a 16-year-old when I was 30,” Brand said. “But when I was 30, I was a very different person. I was a lot younger, and I was an immature 30-year-old.”

Brand quickly acknowledged that legality and ethics are not the same thing.

“Consensual sex, actually, with a variety of people when there is a strong power differential, because there is when you’re a famous man that has the ability to attract women that I had at that time, I think involves exploitation. I think it is exploitative. I recognize that my sexual conduct in the past was selfish and I did not apply enough consideration, barely any, I suppose, really, to how that sex was affecting other people,”he said.

The timing of the admission is impossible to separate from Brand’s mounting legal jeopardy. He was originally set to stand trial at London’s Southwark Crown Court starting June 16, but the trial — which will combine all seven charges brought against Brand in the last year — will now begin on Oct. 12. It is expected to last up to two months.

Brand, who faces three charges of rape, three allegations of sexual assault, and one charge of indecent assault, has pleaded not guilty on all counts. The charges involve six women who allege crimes took place between 1999 and 2009.

Among the most harrowing accusations: Brand is alleged to have raped a woman in a hotel room during a Labour Party conference in Bournemouth; one complainant alleges she was dragged into a male toilet and orally raped while working in television; another claims Brand grabbed her by the forearm in an attempt to pull her into a restroom; and it is further alleged that Brand pinned a radio station employee against a wall, kissing her forcibly before groping her.

OnThe Megyn Kelly Show, Brand appeared to frame his past behavior as part of a pre-spiritual awakening chapter of his life — one defined by addiction, excess, and what he now calls self-awareness in hindsight.

“I was a fool before I lived in the light of the Lord,” he said in a prior social media statement. “I was a drug addict, a sex addict and an imbecile. But what I never was, was a rapist. I’ve never engaged in non-consensual activity.”

During the Kelly interview, theGet Him to the Greekactor later estimated he had sexual contact with “thousands” of women between the mid-1990s and 2015, describing his past self as “selfish” and an “exploiter of women.”

Brand opened the interview with a note of gratitude toward Kelly for the forum.

“Thank you, Megyn Kelly, for giving me the grace to address, in particular, your anger, which is entirely legitimate and recognizable,” he said.

St Trinians World Premiere at the Empire Leicester Square on December 10, 2007 in London, England. Photo credit: depositphotos.com

The context around the 16-year-old admission is narrower than the larger criminal case, but it still reveals how Brand is framing his own conduct. In the U.K., the age of consent is 16, except where an adult is in a position of trust — such as a teacher, social worker, sports coach, or doctor — when the age of consent rises to 18. Brand’s statement does not challenge that legal threshold; instead, it focuses on the ethical question of whether fame and influence can turn a technically consensual encounter into something coercive in practice.

Brand has consistently denied any criminal wrongdoing. Former girlfriend Jordan Martin accused him of assault and abuse during a relationship in 2007. Comedian Katherine Ryan has also said she confronted Brand directly, calling him a “predator,” though she did not initially name him in public.

Those earlier accounts gained renewed attention following a joint investigation byThe Sunday Times,The Times, and Channel 4’sDispatchesin September 2023. The report detailed allegations from multiple women, including claims of sexual assault and emotional abuse between 2006 and 2013. One of the women said she was 16 at the time of an alleged relationship with Brand, while he was 31. Brand rejected those findings at the time, describing them as “astonishing, rather baroque attacks” and insisting all of his relationships “were absolutely always consensual.”

At his most recent court appearance in February — where he arrived wearing a tiger-print shirt and carrying a Bible — Brand told reporters he felt “blessed.”

His October trial at Southwark Crown Court will put that posture to its most serious test yet.

  • Hulk Hogan: Real American is now streaming on Netflix

Shortly before his death last July,Hulk Hoganshared that he believes he was “happiest” in his life when he was raising his two young children alongside his wifeLinda Hoganin the 1980s.

Hogan, who died from a heart attack in July 2025, is the subject of Netflix’s new four-part docuseries,Hulk Hogan: Real American, out Wednesday, April 22. Much of the documentary details the late pro wrestler’s embattled personal life, including his immediate family and the family he began with his ex-wife Linda Hogan after they married in 1983.

Hogan and Linda, 66, shared two children together:Brooke Hogan, now 37, andNick Hogan, 35, who were both born in the years after the couple tied the knot in 1983.

Despite his and Linda’s 23-year marriage ending in a bitter divorce in 2009, Hogan reflects fondly on their life together in Netflix’s new docuseries, which features what turned out to be the late pro wrestler’s final interview of his life, filmed three months before his death last summer.

Towards the end of the series, Hogan is asked when he was the “happiest” he had ever been in his life.

After reflecting for a moment, Hogan shares that throughout the final years of his life he began to have routine flashbacks thinking back to when he and Linda were married, and Brooke and Nick were still young children.

“That was probably the most happiest I’ve ever been,” Hogan explains in perhaps the documentary’s most emotional and poignant moment, while showing home video of the late WWE star rolling around on the floor and playing with his children when they were kids.

Earlier in the documentary, Hogan explains that having kids changed his life.

“My whole reason for living changed instantly,” Hogan says at one point while talking about when his first child, Brooke, was born. “I had no idea that my whole focus would change to try and protect this human being.”

Later, while talking about Nick’s birth, which was a surprise to him as he and Linda had not discussed plans to have another kid, Hogan tells producers he was “ecstatic” at the idea of having “a baby boy.”

The two remained close throughout Hogan’s life and are shown working out together in the beginning of the documentary at their family’s home in Clearwater, Fla.

“He was always affectionate with the kids,” Linda says elsewhere in the documentary. “[He] never forgot to say ‘I love you.’”

In the documentary’s final episode, Linda becomes emotional while discussing her late husband, who she says she still feels “love” for despite their highly publicized divorce.

“I still care about him the same, it doesn’t go away,” Linda explains. “I wish things would’ve turned out differently for us. But then when he got sick, I realized that my love never faded for him. I still had love for him. I really do. I still love him.”

Since Wilson and Batula's announcement, Miller has addressed the situation only sparingly. She firstshared her reactionto the news in a cover story withGlamour, published on April 17.

“It's one thing to experience hurt behind closed doors,” she explained. “To experience it so publicly is like another layer, and then to have to see what you thought was your life still play out in season 10. It's a major mindf---.”

"Just know when something's weird in your gut, there's a reason,” she said. “What's done in the dark always comes to light. And sometimes you really don't even have to do anything except sit back and let the universe handle it all.”

"Every day changes," Miller said. "It's like a weird flow of what you thought the past couple of years of your life looked like, and what you thought relationships were versus what they actually are. It's tricky. One of my friends was like, 'You're going to shed a lot [of friends] in your 30s, but that's to gain more clarity.' And damn, she was right."

Batula and Wilson have also made statements about the upcoming reunion. On April 10,Batula wrote on Instagramthat she would attend the reunion, where she will be addressing any and all questions honestly and directly.

During the Monday, April 20 episode of hisShow Me Somethingpodcast, Wilson said he intends to give some apologies "face to face" and "clear up all of the crazy s--- that's been on the internet" during the reunion.
