Demi Moore’s See-Through Carolina Herrera Top & Skirt Look Is Not for Everyone

Demi Moorestepped out for the “Landman” FYC screening in Los Angeles with a look that leaned into quiet drama. She proved once again that simplicity, when done right, can still command attention. The actress kept her styling sharp and intentional, opting for a monochrome palette that allowed texture and silhouette to take center stage. With her hair pulled back into a sleek, slicked-back ponytail, the overall aesthetic felt polished and controlled, setting the tone for a look that balanced minimalism with statement elements.

Demi Moore’s see-through Carolina Herrera top gets an upgrade with dramatic skirt

Demi Moore wore a Carolina Herrera Fall 2026 black turtleneck that subtly played with transparency, offering a refined take on the sheer trend without feeling overly revealing. The fitted top acted as a clean foundation, creating contrast against the standout piece of the outfit. The latter was a white and black leopard-print skirt. Designed in a tulip shape, the skirt brought sculptural volume and movement, instantly elevating the entire look through its bold structure and graphic pattern.

Rather than over-accessorizing, Moore kept things minimal, letting the silhouette do most of the work. She paired the ensemble with black Aquazzura Gia Sling 105 pumps, adding a classic finish, along with the Aquazzura Bow Tie hobo mini bag, as noted byRCFA.To complete the look, she opted for EFFY jewelry that added just the right amount of sparkle without distracting from the outfit’s strong visual impact.

The look perfectly reflects Carolina Herrera’s signature design philosophy, pairing a sleek, understated top with a statement skirt that carries the outfit. It is a formula the house consistently returns to, and here, it feels especially effective.

However, it is also the kind of look that isn’t for everyone, with its bold proportions and sheer detailing requiring a certain level of confidence to pull off. Still, Moore wears the see-through top with ease, proving that when the attitude matches the outfit, even the boldest silhouettes can feel effortless.

Beneath Trump's ballroom legal case: A brief history of the White House bunker

WASHINGTON (AP) — Secrecy surrounding White House security makes details hard to come by, but President Donald Trump's court fight over his $400 million ballroom casts some light on an underground bunker at the site that has had a role in history.

Associated Press The White House is seen from the Washington Monument, Monday, April 20, 2026, in Washington. Trump

The bunker emerged in the Trump administration's court fight against the National Trust for Historic Preservation, which is challenging the 90,000-square-foot (8,400-square-meter) ballroom project. Afederal appeals courtlast week permitted the president to continue with construction of the project at the site of the former East Wing, which wasdemolished last fall.

That ruling put on hold a lower-court judge's order blocking aboveground construction but exempted work to ensure the safety and security of the White House. The Republican administration’s appeal cited materials that would be installed to make a “heavily fortified” facility, including adding bomb shelters, military installations and a medical facility underneath the ballroom.

The bunker’s role in presidential history

The history of a bunker beneath the East Wing dates to Franklin D. Roosevelt’s presidency, when an underground bomb shelter was installed in 1942 after the United States had entered World War II. Beyond that, detail is obscured by secrecy resulting from concerns about presidential safety.

Garrett Graff, a historian and national security author, said the Presidential Emergency Operations Center beneath the East Wing was always intended to be for short-term use.

“The whole point of the sort of presidential evacuation and continuity of the presidency is you want to get the president out of the place where everyone knows that he is and get him into a place where people don’t know where he is,” Graff said.

Among the most high-profile flights to an underground bunker at the White House involve the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, when Vice President Dick Cheney was taken there.

A Secret Service agent burst into the West Wing room, grabbed Cheneyby the belt and shoulder and led him to a bunker underneath the White House. “He didn’t say, ‘Shall we go?’” Cheney told NBC News years later. “He wasn’t polite about it.”

More recently,Trump was rushed to a White House bunkerin 2020 amid protests stemming from the death of George Floyd. At the time, there were chants from protesters at Lafayette Park that could be heard in the building, and Secret Service and law enforcement officers struggled to control the crowds.

Why a ballroom matters to a bunker

Matthew Quinn, deputy director of the Secret Service, wrote in court filings that it's important for the ballroom project to go forward for security at the White House.

“An above-ground slab and topping structure is needed to ensure that key underground structures with a security purpose are properly protected and strengthened,” Quinn wrote.

He added: “Leaving the project site unfinished imperils the ability of the Secret Service to meet its statutory mission to protect the President.”

Trump last month offered a list of what’s being done to enhance security while the ballroom is built.

“The roof is droneproof. We have secure air-handling systems. You know, bad things happen in the air if you have bad people,” the president said. “We have biodefense all over. We have secure telecommunications and communications all over. We have bomb shelters that we’re building. We have a hospital and very major medical facilities that we’re building.”

The president took to social media tocriticize the lower-court rulingand said the underground portion wouldn’t work without the aboveground facility as well.

What's next in the legal battle over the ballroom

The National Trust for Historic Preservation hasargued that Trump overstepped his authorityby moving forward with the project without getting approval from key federal agencies and Congress.

U.S. District Judge Richard Leonruled in favor of the nonprofit groupat the end of March but put his decision on hold briefly while allowing underground work to continue. The administration appealed.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit has a hearing for June 5 to review the case.

Taxpayer dollars will pay for the security aspects of the project, though Trump has said the ballroom costs will be covered by donations from wealthy people and corporations. He's said it's a long-overdue addition to the White House complex.

“The underground portion is wedded to, and serves, the upper portion,” the president said in a social media post.

What that means in practice is unclear and hinges in part on the outcome of litigation.

Fate of Iran peace talks uncertain as deadline approaches for end of ceasefire

By Parisa Hafezi, Jana Choukeir and Steve Holland

Reuters

DUBAI/WASHINGTON, April 20 (Reuters) - Iran is considering attending peace talks with the United States in Pakistan, a senior Iranian official told Reuters on Monday, following moves by Islamabad to end a U.S. blockade of Iran's ports, a significant obstacle to Tehran rejoining peace efforts as the end of a two-week ceasefire approaches.

However, the official stressed that no decision had been made ‌and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said that "continued violations of the ceasefire" by the U.S. are a major obstacle to continuing the diplomatic process.

Araqchi told his Pakistani counterpart Ishaq Dar in a telephone call that Iran, ‌while taking all aspects of the matter into account, had yet to decide how to proceed further.

On Monday night, Iran’s top negotiator Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf accused U.S. President Donald Trump on X of increasing pressure on Tehran through the blockade and ceasefire violations, saying Iran rejects negotiations under threat.

The two-week ceasefire in a conflict that has killed thousands and roiled the global economy, particularly energy markets, is set to expire this week.

It had appeared to be in jeopardy after the U.S. said it had seized an Iranian cargo ship that tried to run its blockade and Tehran vowed to retaliate.

In the Islamabad talks, Trump is eager for a deal that would help avoid another surge in oil prices and plunge in stock markets. Iran hopes to leverage its control of the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial shipping channel for global energy supplies, to get an agreement that prevents a resumption of the war, and allows financial relief from long-running sanctions and some breathing room for its nuclear program.

Adding to the uncertainty, Vice President JD Vance remained in the United States on Monday, a ‌separate source told Reuters, denying reports he was already on his way to Pakistan for talks.

The unnamed senior Iranian official said Tehran was "positively reviewing" its participation, a shift from earlier statements ruling out attendance and pledging to retaliate for U.S. aggression.

The official said mediator Pakistan was making positive efforts to end the U.S. blockade and ensure Iran's participation.

Trump announced the two-week ceasefire with Iran on April 7, and has not specified when precisely it ends.

A Pakistani source involved in the talks said it would expire at 8 p.m. ET on Wednesday, which would be midnight GMT or 3:30 a.m. Thursday in Iran.

Trump said on social media that he believed his administration's nuclear deal with Iran would be better than a 2015 international agreement reached after years of negotiations under then-President Barack Obama, a Democrat.

Trump withdrew from that agreement - which had been vehemently opposed by congressional Republicans and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu - in 2018, during his first term as president.

It was unclear what kind of agreement could be reached in just a few days of talks, but the Republican U.S. president predicted a quick result.

"I am under no pressure whatsoever, although, it will all happen, relatively quickly!" Trump said in a Truth Social post.

BLOCKADE POSES A PROBLEM

A Pakistani security source ‌said Pakistani mediator Field Marshal Asim Munir had told Trump the blockade was an obstacle to talks, and that Trump had promised to consider ending it.

The U.S. was hoping to start negotiations in Pakistan shortly before the ceasefire expires.

However, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said that "unconstructive & contradictory signals from American officials carry a bitter message; they seek Iran's surrender."

"Iranians do not submit to force," he added on X.

The U.S. has maintained its blockade of Iranian ports, while Iran lifted and then reimposed its own blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, which typically handles roughly one-fifth of the world's oil and liquefied natural gas supply.

Oil prices rose around 5% as traders remained fearful that the ceasefire would collapse. Traffic through the Strait of Hormuz was at a virtual standstill with just three crossings in the space of 12 hours, according to shipping data. [O/R]

U.S. MARINES BOARD IRANIAN VESSEL

The U.S. military said it had fired on an Iranian-flagged cargo ship headed towards Iran's Bandar Abbas port on Sunday after a standoff. ‌U.S. Central Command released video showing Marines descending ropes from helicopters onto the vessel.

The vessel is likely to have been carrying what Washington deems dual-use items that could be used by the military, maritime security sources said on Monday.

Iran's military said the ship had been travelling from China and accused the U.S. of "armed piracy", according to state media. They said they were ready to confront U.S. forces over the "blatant aggression", but were constrained by the presence of crew members’ families on board.

China, the main buyer of Iranian crude, expressed concern over the "forced interception", and Chinese President Xi Jinping ‌called for ships to resume passage through the strait as normal and for the conflict to be resolved through political and diplomatic channels, state news agency Xinhua reported.

Trump warned on Sunday that the U.S. would destroy every bridge and power plant in Iran if it rejected his terms, continuing a recent pattern of such threats.

Iran has said that if the United States were to attack its civilian infrastructure, it would strike power stations and desalination plants in its Gulf Arab neighbours.

PREPARING FOR TALKS THAT MIGHT NOT HAPPEN

Pakistan geared up to host the talks despite uncertainty over whether they would go ahead. Nearly 20,000 security personnel have been deployed across Islamabad, a government official and a security ‌official said.

Thousands of people have been killed by U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iran and in an Israeli invasion of Lebanon conducted in parallel since the war began on February 28. A truce in Lebanon is also currently in place and Washington is to host a second round of ambassador-level talks between Lebanon and Israel on Thursday as part of efforts to protect a fragile ceasefire.

2 teens dead, 5 injured after gunfire breaks out during 'planned fight': Police

Seven teenagers were shot, including two fatally, after a "planned fight" between juveniles at a North Carolina park escalated and several people opened fire, authorities said.

ABC News

The gunfire broke out at Leinbach Park in Winston-Salem on Monday morning, according to police.

The fight broke out at the park before 10 a.m., and the "situation escalated significantly, leading to multiple people exchanging gunfire," the Winston-Salem Police Department said.

Two people are dead, according to the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation. Winston-Salem police identified them as 17-year-old Erubey Romero Medina, who was found in the parking lot of the park, and 16-year-old Daniel Jimenez Millian, who was located inside the park. Both had gunshot wounds and were pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Additionally, four female teens -- ages 14, 15, 17 and 19 -- and an 18-year-old man were shot, according to Winston-Salem Police Capt. Kevin Burns. Officers located them in another nearby parking lot, with injuries ranging from minor to critical, he said.

The names of the injured minors will not be released, while the names of the adults are being withheld pending further investigation into their involvement, Burns said.

"Detectives are actively working to determine each individual's role in this incident," he said during a press briefing on Monday. "Preliminary information indicates that some of those injured may have also been involved in the shooting."

It is unclear how many firearms were involved, according to Winston-Salem Police Chief William H. Penn.

The incident was isolated to the park and remains under investigation, police said.

Leinbach Park is located near a middle school. Students at the school were safe, police said.

5 injured, one critically, in shooting near University of Iowa campus, officials say

Chief Penn expressed frustration over the deadly mass shooting.

"I feel like everyone else. I'm frustrated, I'm angry, I'm sad," he said during the press briefing. "This didn't have to happen. It's senseless. And hopefully we as a community kind of get fed up together and just get more involved, get more nosy."

He urged parents to speak with their children and to take actions such as checking their backpacks before school.

"We gotta tell them to stay away from fights. I feel like I just had the same conversation about cellphones, fights and how just having those phones out, how that changes the behavior of our youth," the chief said. "And I'm saying it again -- stay away from the fights. It's not the same as it used to be."

Forsyth County District Attorney Jim O'Neill also urged parents to speak with their children and for people to report fights in the hopes of avoiding such deadly violence.

"I can't help but believe that somebody out there would have known about this fight taking place this morning and didn't pick up a phone and anonymously call and this could have been averted," O'Neill said during the briefing. "There is incredible sadness and tragedy in the homes of our neighbors tonight, and it all could have been averted."
