Director of 1994s The Crow Pokes Fun at Remakes Poor Box Office: Not Much Cash to Grab It Seems
The Crow hasn't quite taken flight. The remake of the 1994 film premiered in theaters on Friday, Aug. 23, with a box office of $4.6 million on its first weekend. According to Variety, its production budget was reportedly $50 million. However, there's one filmmaker who isn't upset by the opening weekend numbers: The Crow's original director, Alex Proyas. Since the 2024 remake directed by Rupert Sanders was announced, Proyas has been vocally opposed to it.
