Jay Putty spent the entirety of 2022 in the cruel prongs of grief. "I lost my dad suddenly to a heart attack caused by the remnants of cancer," Putty, 30, recalls in an interview with PEOPLE. "And then a month later, a very good friend of mine's cancer came back, and he ended up passing away. And then my best friend's dad, who was like a dad to me, had a botched surgery and we lost him.
