About Our Ads Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement Abus Magomedov met the media Saturday after his win over Cam Rowston at UFC 333.
Magomedov (30-7-1 MMA, 6-3 UFC) submitted Rowston (15-4 MMA, 3-1 UFC) in the first round on the prelims at Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi. The loss was the first of Rowston's UFC career.
When Rowston shot for a takedown 90 seconds into the first round, Magomedov latched on to a guillotine choke and didn't need long to get the tap.
"It was his choice to go on the ground. I never try to take someone to the ground … If someone tries to take me down, it's easier to submit him because then I have some options for a guillotine or other stuff. I knew already when my arm was inside, he's done – it's just, how long he's going to survive. I knew. My hand was inside, and I knew I've got him."
"I called out (Gregory) 'Robocop' (Rodrigues). We know each other. Back in the day, he was in Germany and we trained together. We're cool with each other. There's nothing personal – just respect for him. Let's see who's better. I need to come up (in the rankings), and he's on the way. Sorry, 'Robocop,' but let's do it."
